Terms for tradespeople
These are the terms between you (the business using sendthejob) and Owen Burrows, trading as OB2 House (sendthejob), 11 Springwood Avenue, Chadderton, Oldham OL9 9RR (“we”, “us”). They’re written to be read. If anything’s unclear, ring 07725 643164 or email hello@sendthejob.co.uk.
sendthejob is for businesses, including sole traders. You agree to these terms when your account goes live.
1. What sendthejob does
When you can’t answer, your phone diverts the call to a number we provide. The caller hears your greeting and, if they rang from a mobile, gets a text with a link to your page. They send the job, and it’s texted to you.
It doesn’t book jobs or send quotes. It won’t reach everyone, for example:
- callers who withhold their number, or ring from a landline, don’t get a text;
- it depends on your phone network’s diverts and on our suppliers’ networks, which can occasionally fail or delay.
2. Price and payment
- First month: free. We don’t take a card for it.
- If you stay after the free month: a one-off joining fee of £149, then £89 a month, rolling.
- Paid by Direct Debit, monthly in advance.
- We’ll give you at least 30 days’ notice of any price change.
3. Cancelling
- Tell us, by phone, text or email, and we’ll switch it off within one working day. There’s no notice period and no charge after that.
- We don’t refund part of a month you’ve already paid for.
- Dial ##002# on your phone to remove the diverts. If you don’t, your missed calls will go to a number that no longer answers.
- The sendthejob number is ours, not yours, and is released when you cancel.
We can suspend or end the service if a payment is more than 14 days late after we’ve reminded you, or straight away if it’s used in a way that breaks section 4.
4. Your side
- Give us accurate details, and keep your job types and greeting honest.
- Only use it for your own business calls. Don’t use it, or change the text-back, to send marketing, offers or anything unlawful.
- You’re responsible for getting back to the customers who send you jobs, for your prices, and for the work itself.
- Your phone network may charge you for diverted calls. Check your plan.
- Keep your sign-in email secure. Tell us if you think someone else has access.
5. Liability
We’ll provide the service with reasonable care and skill. We’re not liable for lost jobs, lost profit or other indirect losses, including when a call or text doesn’t get through. Our total liability to you in any 12 months is limited to what you paid us in those 12 months. Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law doesn’t allow to be limited, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
6. Your customers’ details (data processing)
UK data protection law says a business that handles personal data for another business needs a written agreement. This section is that agreement. For your callers’ details you are the controller and we are your processor.
| What | Receiving your diverted calls, texting callers a link, collecting job details and passing them to you. |
|---|---|
| Whose data | People who ring you, and people on your never-text list. |
| What data | Phone numbers, call times, names, postcodes, job descriptions, answers and photos. Never-text numbers are stored scrambled. |
| How long | Call records, jobs and photos: 90 days. Everything else: until you cancel, then deleted within 30 days. |
We will:
- only use the data to provide sendthejob to you, as set out in these terms, unless the law requires otherwise (and we’ll tell you if it does, unless we’re not allowed to);
- make sure anyone who can see it is bound to keep it confidential;
- keep it secure, including private storage, encrypted connections, access limited to what’s needed, and automatic deletion;
- only use the suppliers listed on our privacy page, give you notice before adding or replacing one, and let you object (and cancel) if you don’t agree;
- make sure each supplier is bound by the same data protection duties, and that any transfer outside the UK has proper safeguards;
- help you respond when someone asks to see, correct or delete their details;
- tell you without undue delay if we become aware of a breach affecting your customers’ data, and help you deal with it;
- delete the data when you cancel (within 30 days), unless the law requires us to keep it;
- give you the information you reasonably need to show we’re meeting these duties.
You confirm you’re entitled to have your missed callers texted back about their enquiry, and that your own privacy information tells customers you use suppliers to handle enquiries.
7. Changes and the law
We may update these terms. We’ll email you at least 30 days before any change that affects you, and you can cancel before it applies. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
